Yup, she is indeed! That'll be why I'm marrying her ;-)

And yes, that is a big concern. Especially in economic recession, where it's that much more important that people use everything they've got.

I'm clearly completely naive and this will sound ridiculous but...

I think it's because people use it as a weapon (e.g. psychological bullying), and people fear it (e.g. the church, politicians), and even if the mind is willing, the flesh is often too weak in the face of drug addictions, poor diets, poor health, laziness. Cheap thrills are easier than intellectual thrills.
