Jul. 29th, 2009 04:11 amNot sleeping well tonight, for reasons I won't go into. On the other hand, the headfog I've had from Bad Pizza-related illness (I certainly didn't ask Domino's for a campylobacter topping, but that's what it's feels like I got) is lifting and I've managed to get a bit of research done, so it's not a dead loss. I'm still feeling pressed by losing so much time to illness, but resisting my urges to push myself harder when my health's tenuous.
In better news, travel is booked for my U.S. trip - I'll be away visiting Kentucky for most of September, with a few days in Los Angeles/Pasadena towards the end of the month. Oddly, the cheapest flights bounce me through Sydney on the way there and Brisbane on the way back, but I'll be there a matter of hours so not really visitable. One of these days I'll get to visiting Wellington, Australia, Seattle, Atlanta and some of those other places I seem to have accumulated friends to go and visit, but... well. I miss my fiancée too damned much, so I'm spending as much time with her on this trip as I can fairly get away with.
It'll be interesting going inautumn fall instead of summer - hopefully I'll spend less time sleeping the sleep of the acclimatising as a result. Unfortunately though, this does mean I'll be visiting during Jana's term time. Though to put a positive face on that, I may get to observe U.S. college education in action, and see if I can find some academics with shared interests in the Louisville area. Which may end up being useful in future, no? Also found a couple of other leads I can chase up about businesses that do My Sort of Thing in the area.
Sappy as it may sound, I'm looking forward to things like cooking and helping around the house, too. The day when we have a common home rather than a visit can't come soon enough.
