So, recently I went up to Wellington for a conference. With my Canon SX-100IS and its fancy new CHDK firmware along for the ride, I took a few photos. On the flight up, we were in a smallish Bombardier Q300 Dash-8 turboprop, so going considerably lower than the standard Boeing 737-300 would go. As a result, I took the opportunity to indulge in some aerial photography:

The conference itself was quite good and interesting if you're a computer science grad student. It had a lot of this sort of thing:

And there was some time for wandering around Wellington, visiting friends and taking photos for amusement, interest or Victorian-era reference photography:

This is the same waterfront which saw a camera-stealing octopus and a docile stingray while I was there, though I managed to miss both of those particular adventures.

Since then, I've returned home. No photos of Saturday's presents (a new office chair and a bottle of Stone's Green Ginger Wine for cooking purposes, neither of which is hugely photogenic). On the other hand, you do get to see the glory that is our new, rough-hewn untreated timber fence, and a cat with a dinosaur:
