Travelling plans.

I'm currently trying to arrange for a trip to the United States in May. It's been far too long since I last saw wolfwitch, and I'm damned if I'm going to wait until I've finished this PhD to see her again. The current plan is to suspend my thesis for a month so I don't have to juggle work stresses while I'm away. I've already been that stupid once, and suffered for it. It'll mean an extra hit to the finances with no scholarship income for a month, but I can save for that.

The current plan is flying to the Bay Area in early May, and staying there with friends for a few days. I'm keen to get a better look at the place than last time I was in town, where I was working most days and didn't make it out of the financial district. Hopefully catch up with some people. After that, flying to Lexington for some quality time with wolfwitch. Late May, we're planning to drive up to Michigan for World Steam Expo, and I'll be heading back to New Zealand in early June.

So, definite plans afoot.

I live in the town of Stanford (which, yeah, is basically just the university, but we're still technically our own town). It's about halfway down the peninsula from SF.

Cool, I know where Stanford is. Not awfully far from where I'll be staying, I think. If the opportunity comes up, I'll have to stop in :-)

I'm not sure at this point how my in-area logistics are going to be - I certainly don't want to impose on those I'll be staying with to drive me around all over the place. So I may take you up on the offer of an overnight resting place if that turns out to be the practical option, thank you :-)

Hmmm. Lexington, you say? The Lexington of Kentuckyness, by chance? And then headed for MI? If you'll be coming by St Louis (& you potentially would, sort of (ok, not really, but anyway)) feel free to drop in. Very busy, of late. Trying to get my PhD finished, which naturally takes up quite a bit of time. What about you?

I can only imagine the time involved in getting a PhD in anything. I have been going to college myself, but right now I am in a bind because I did not have a babysitter or reliable transportation so I was unable to take classes this winter. I am hoping to get something figured out to start back up the 21st of this month.
Other than that I am just taking care of my two-year old daughter :)
