University nostalgia
Feb. 27th, 2002 06:23 pmToday I braved the warm temperatures and green buses to go to university for Clubs Day. Was nice to catch up with people I hadn't seen in ages. So, now I've joined up for all my various geeky clubs (KAOS, live roleplaying, fantasy gaming, etc...), even though I'm not at university. Such things are sometimes useful if there's events on, and I get discounts at the local comic shop ;-)
I wandered around looking for the DramaSoc desk for a bit, but I think I may have arrived too late in the day and tarried too long with the Pale People in Black, and missed any members thereof that I might have been wanting to say hi to, had they been on the desk. Still, I did catch up with mattmatt while I was wandering through my old stomping grounds in the Computer Science department. He's looking well, if maybe a little over-busy. (Hi Matt!)
I'd hoped I might be able to go and chat to my forwer HoD Tim Bell, but he seemed rather busy when I walked past. I may have to mail him later. I'm thinking that if this joblessness does persist, that I may think about doing a part-time Masters thesis, if I can think of something that I might want to write a thesis about. Who knows, there may even be some tutoring going that I could do, though that's unlikely at this stage given that the first term has started. I caught up on departmental news/gossip a little though, by talking to a PhD student friend and the head technician for a while. Some things change, some stay the same.
