A discussion online about covers of '80s songs progressed into trying to decide who should do a cover of The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats. The general consensus seems to be that it should be Rammstein.
My first cut at some lyrics:
Wir tanzen wann wir möchten
Und lass dein' Freunde hin.
Für dein' Freunde tanz nicht,
Und wenn sie tanz nicht,
Die sind kein Freunde auf mein
Wir tanzen... und singen!
Wir tanz! Wir tanz! Alles in Kontrol!
Wir tanz! Wir tanz! Macht von Pol bis Pol!
The chorus sounds a bit like a Rammstein song already :-)
We also decided that it was compulsory to have a midget with a lute, but that being German they shouldn't have any problem finding those. Also, that Bavarian slap-dancers were and appropriate substitute for Morris Dancers in a pinch.
Then someone asked if German already had a compound word for "men without hats singing a song called the saftey dance in a music video that has a midget with a lute". The best I could figure out at a moment's notice was Lautemitspielendezwergshabendehutslosmännersängersicherheitstanzvideo.
