Hello world. I am still here, kinda.
Most of my stuff was moved today, largely courtesy of my new flatmates who work for a moving company. They are good at carrying big heavy things. I am not, but I managed to carry some stuff despite the whole chronic fatigue deal. They had a small truck which we pretty much filled, and there's still stuff left at Gunns Crescent (whence I currently type) - but it's mostly stuff that's boxed, and may be transportable via trailer, if I can find someone with a car that features a towbar who feels like helping me transport the rest across town about 6km.
I think whence is the word I want there.
So, the new flat now has a slightly dubious fridge a nearly-new washing machine (that unfortunately dripped on the corner my mattress during transit), and a television tuned to far more channels than we could ever receive with it over here in the Valley of Igneous Radio-Reflective Rocks With No Line Of Sight To The Big Transmitter Up On The Hills. We may be able to get the cable install done as soon as Tuesday, I hear. We also found that a couch had been left behind, which solves some of our seating issues in the interim.
My room now contains my computer desk (empty), my other miscellaneous/synth-playing desk, a queen size bed (ex-Sakura), and a bookshelf (full). Unfortunately upon moving the bed from the garage here, we found that it was missing a headboard, and thus had two legs less to stand on than it should have. Thanks to my resourceful sister
atropus, I now have a bed that's resting quite solidly on eight cinderblocks, which also has the advantage of providing more storage space beneath the bed for my miscellaneous junk belongings.
If I have my bed up on blocks, might I just be a redneck..?
The party last night was great, even though I turned up exhausted. The sugar content of Aftershock and Chartreuse (thank you, Anthony and
goldboy) seems to metabolise quite easily though, and I managed to rabbit on to various people quite animatedly (and apparently still coherently) for a significant part of the night. We'll miss you so, Bordello. (That wasn't intended to rhyme.)
I have a vase here that
chrissieb gave me, that is shaped like an elongated (1' high) shot glass. It would be grossly irresponsible of me to use it as a drinking vessel next time someone offered me a shot of something, wouldn't it.
Crashing the night came courtesy of
el_gremmo, who lives within a fairly pleasant walk of the new flat, and has a very comfortable couch. (
the_legionnaire also has a very comfortable, um, green thing. It was good to see them both, though I didn't see the green-thing-owner at the flat as she was away capering with circus folk all night.)
We may need to borrow a dehumidifier for the new place. It feels a little bit damp in the carpety areas, possibly as a result of cleaning or something.
