Things not to wake up to, Number (x+1):
Nov. 7th, 2005 04:13 pmThings are generally going quite well in our new flat. Over the weekend, we discussed bills and so forth, and the fact that there hadn't been a bill from TelstraClear (our phone/TV/internet company) yet. I was going to phone them up today and find out what was happening. So, today I wake up and open my door to find mail from TCL...
The bill is... $451.19
The due date is... tomorrow.
At this point, I utter the loud and hearty three-word phrase of distressed confusion that one might expect upon that kind of post-waking revelation: what the fuck??
Thankfully, after making some inquiries it turned out that we'd been accidentally charged installation costs on top of the moving fee (that had been waived). It was easily reversed, knocking a couple of hundred dollars off the bill (and along with charges for pay-per-view movies and toll calls, a much more realistic figure). I'm still a bit concerned that it took NZ Post nearly a fortnight to deliver the bill, though.
In related news, the final bill for the power at the last flat came back. I didn't realise that our initial bond had been refunded back in October '04, so that's thrown my finances out of whack a bit. It's manageable, though chances aren't looking good for affording a ticket to the ball next weekend even if there were any left. Bugger.
Still, it's a lovely day outside. Might be time to finish my breakfast and have a walk to clear the cobwebs.
