May. 29th, 2005 09:27 pmJust a quick medical update. Went to see the doctor at Student Health this week. When I described symptoms to him, (and he asked a few questions, like had I visited Southeast Asia or Africa recently and slept with anyone I shouldn't have over there) he said he had no idea what was wrong with me. So they took a small bunch of blood tests (purple-, grey- and orange-yellow-capped vials, to preserve different bits of the blood), and sent them away for urgent overnight analysis.
The next day I came back, and my blood tests showed up relatively normal. I have a slightly elevated ALT (alanine aminotransferase) level - not uncommon in people suffering from nasty viral things, and I'm slightly low on folate. The doctor's best guess is that I have something viral and flu-like, and the best thing to do is rest up and hope it fixes itself soon.
I think it's slowly getting better, but it fluctuates. Today wasn't a good day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
The CD I ordered from Borders (thanks to my sister's birthday gift voucher) arrived in less than two weeks, despite them suggesting there would be a 6-8 week waiting time. So I now have a copy of Seabound's No Sleep Demon. I quite like it. Frank Spinath has a voice that's easy for me to sing along with. I may have to get a copy of Beyond Flatline sometime when I have disposable cash.

Date: 2005-05-30 09:44 pm (UTC)However I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a set at Ritual in August? The next one is this Sunday, and I've lost a dj, but its probably too late to get you on board, what with you being under the weather and the time constraints. Let me know :)

Date: 2005-05-31 02:39 am (UTC)We'd probably need to make sure I knew how to use whatever equipment was going, and get whatever music I was going to play to the venue, but I'm sure that could be sorted out.
Any particular theme of stuff you're looking for? I can probably get a bunch of stuff of one sort or another together, but I guess it'd probably be a good idea to complement the other DJs, no?

Date: 2005-05-31 02:53 am (UTC)Plenty of familiarisation with the equipment available. The dj's all share their setlists prior (we are doing that now for Sunday), so sets complement/don't crossover too much etc.
What's your strongest suit, music wise? We've got some deathrock/old school to new industrial, a little mainstream and this time we have a startup of atmos/eclectic/horror stuff. I'm always looking to add more depth, so you tell me your poison. The Vampyre Ball won't be so goth/industrial targeted btw. I'm looking for lushness/atmosphere as well, so it might be your forte, even?
