Settling in
Jun. 1st, 2006 04:17 pmThings seem to be going relatively well with the new flat - there's now a space for my computer and bookshelf, and I'm slowly getting around to unpacking. My first experiences with a gas range and cast iron skillet went well - it's certainly a more directed and quicker to heat than an electric element.
University life is busy at the moment - I've picked up a bit of contract work, and there are meetings and billable hours and timesheets; it's almost like being a web developer again (though not at consultant rates). I also have a meeting tomorrow that might bring me a step closer to a funded PhD, if I decide that's what I want to do.
Unfortunately my home PC died in transit - as best we can tell, the power supply has died of old age, or something. All going well, everything else in the machine will be fine and we can just swap out the PSU and it'll go again. Working that out tomorrow, after meetings and stuff.
Right. Time for a meeting with my supervisor before he goes away for a month (to Canada, the UK and Germany), and then away to find out about these EUNZ scholarships. And just coincidentally get free pizza.
