Last week I resigned from my day job, for reasons that I don't feel like going into in a public medium. One less thing to stress about, I guess. That said, I haven't been lacking for things to do.

Firstly, getting ready to go to the U.S. - big trips require a lot of logistics. I still haven't figured out exactly where I'm going to be staying when in the Seattle/Puget Sound area, but it sounds like I have options, thanks to a variety of lovely people :-)

The trip has been sucking a lot of finances - all sorts of "I should get (around to) this one day" things are suddenly becoming a lot more vital - but contract work at/via university has been picking up. Still no word on PhD scholarships just yet, but there's paid work to keep me off the bread line for now and some distance into the future, at least. Once more I thank my parents for encouraging me to learn how to save at an early age, and supporting me enough that I don't have a student debt to pay off. And for generally being cool and stuff, because my parents are.

I'm also helping [livejournal.com profile] aigantighe run a games appreciation course at a local library, which appears to be an interesting and stealthy way of teaching critical thinking to teenagers. Soon I shall inflict interactive fiction upon them, also.

I invite anyone with the least interest bit of interest in IF to join [livejournal.com profile] grunk's experiences with Lost Pig (and Place Under Ground). Don't set fire to the forest, folks!

...actually, no, set the forest on fire. The results, and Grunk's stunning leaps of logic, are well worth reading.
