I've arrived safely in Pasadena. Took me a little while to get to a net connection, though travel went quite well. I'll give a more comprehensive update later.

GenCon/Indianapolis
Mid-August, I'm going to be attending GenCon, and talk
ing about game/education-related stuff at the Trade Day.

I also have a hotel room that could use another person to split costs, if anyone's going. Hoping to put together something to wear for the Steampunk-themed dance thing on the Saturday night, also.

I could use the adventure!

The level of haze in the air when coming in to land at LAX was rather special, I must admit. I wasn't sure how much of it was fires, and how much was just L.A....

Sadly, most of it was LA. That's why I'm not a huge fan of the sprawl. As you fly in, you can see the layer of brown and you think, "I'm flying into that? Tell th epilot to turn this thing around before it's too late!

I'm here in Pasadena at Caltech, working on my PhD, if you'd be interested in having a look around Caltech and lunch at the excellent cafeteria here. Always nice to hear a familiar accent!

Thanks for the food hints. We went through a supermarket last night, and found that you have many Interesting foods here (and some Wrong ones, too). Will have to do a bit of exploring...
