Hmm. I heard that track when Portal was still "current" and I thought it might have been you that had brought it to my attention. Maybe it just looks like the kind of song/band title I'm used to seeing on your LJ :D
It does sound a bit like some of the bands I like. For instance, Mesh's "Firefly" comes to mind (another song I first heard via angryangeltoo, as it happens), or "Fly To Heaven" by Immaculata.
I have heard it on your cellphone actually, now that you mention it, but as I think I remarked (I certainly remembering thinking it) at the time, I'd already heard it online at that point. Probably from Penny Arcade or something.

Penny Arcade would make sense. I found the song through sneaker-net, but a lot of people in my close proximity read Penny Arcade so it's conceivable that they found it there too.
PA is the source of about 75% of my electronic gaming input, I'd say, with another 20% coming from Yahtzee, 5% from playing Rock Band and 0% from conversation.
Most of mine comes from osmosis rather than anything I actively seek out. Avoiding computer gaming talk is pretty difficult for me. Almost as difficult as avoiding roleplaying theory discussions, or Ultimate tactics/post-game analysis. Not that I would be actively avoiding that last one, but if I wanted to I'm pretty sure I couldn't.
