No UC Doctoral scholarship for me this year. But then, that was pretty much expected. Generally the selection process involves taking the applicants with the highest GPAs, regardless of the quality of their application. With my poor health during my earlier degrees, mine was never stellar.

Still waiting on word for another, potentially far better scholarship, so all hope is not yet lost.

*nod* Worst comes to worst, I may still have some fallback options depending on how my summer research project goes.

Crossing my fingers for this second scholarship I'm waiting on, though - that gives me the best chance of doing work that I want to be doing, with prospects of employability either in academia or commercially at the other end. I guess we'll see.
