These are excellent. I went to a dorkbot presentation on Wednesday about various 3D printer technologies, which included a presentation from a local group that runs a 'maker-space' where you can go, buy food & drinks, borrow tools, and generally just make stuff. They had a makerbot and a rep-rap machine with them to show, as well as photos of their 'best vending machine ever', which is full of parts and random gadgets.
I made a whole pile of notes on different 3D printing techniques and services, including certain 'print-on-demand' ones where you can send them a file, and they'll print it. Also got lots of notes on different packages for generating appropriate files, ranging from the obvious 3D mesh generation packages, to 3D solid files, to funky parametric generators.
