I'm listening to silly music. Again.
Oct. 2nd, 2002 02:15 amThis has been an interesting couple of days. I had a job interview for a "Junior/Intermediate Web Programmer" position early on Monday afternoon. The interview lasted an hour(!) and the interviewers seemed to be in a good mood when they came out of it, so I think I may have done well enough to be given serious consideration. I think I even managed to turn the "what do you see as your weaknesses?" question into something positive, which I was glad of.
Afterwards I wandered through Wyrd to have a chat with Kate, and have a look around. She had some new stock in, and I found a shirt that (a) had a nice cut, (b) looks durable, (c) suits what I see as my style, and (d) actually fit me fairly well (though it was a little tight along the forearm when buttoned up). A little over NZ$100 later, and I'm the proud owner of my first ever "designer" shirt. I may supply a photo of me in said shirt at a later date, should one become available.
Today I suffered a bleary telephone wakeup after a mostly sleepless night (probably due to supressing my first-job-interview-in-many-months nervousness from the previous night), and then headed over to visit Seth and do some geeking. I played around a bit with PostNuke, which looks quite nifty and extensible, and was surprisingly easy to install. It's certainly the first program I've come across that has its own PHP install script - a rather clever one, at that. I may play more.
After said geekery, I headed off to university for a bit of socialising with pagans and other interesting people. While detouring through The Foundry on my way to get food I happened across some friends who were a little short on numbers for their quiz team. Seeing as it was surprisingly unsmoky in there, I stayed for the first three rounds or so (curious to hear the answers for the first couple of rounds) before the pressing need to get food for people intervened. Quiz nights are fun affairs - a good combination of competition, learning and excuses to be silly - although Greg certainly doesn't need any more opportunities to be dodgy :-) Said event was presided over by the lovely and talented
edgar. After listening to her speak, I can see why she does well in both drama and radio - easy on the ear, but with presence and projection. Colour me impressed.
After heading home via the Big Green Bus I stopped by to visit my sister's flat, and met
sakura_shinra's cat, recently arrived from Places That Smell Of Noxious Herbal Substances and recovering from the shock of being bathed and now smelling of pH 5.5 shampoo. He's lovely, but quite skittish and still getting used to living in a new place. Ahh, the kitties; I cuddle them so...
