Oct. 19th, 2003 12:15 amI was planning on heading out to a party tonight. Just when I was about to go out, though, I heard that part of Cashel Mall (between Oxford and Colombo) has caught fire. Reports are mixed so far, but it sounds like an LPG tank may have exploded. Streets for a block or two in either direction have been closed to road traffic, and people have apparently been evacuated from buildings in that area, just to be on the safe side.
I know a couple of people whose livelihoods are in this area. I hope stuff's OK. My old workplace at the corner of Hereford and Oxford is still serving web traffic, at least. Still, lots of old buildings - lots of history in that part of town.
If I find any reliable sources of information, I'll keep people posted. For all I know so far, this could be some elaborate hoax that I'm not in on. I hope so.
