Nov. 7th, 2003 03:02 amCan anyone remember who I was discussing a pirate-themed party (with optional monkey sub-theme) with recently? I can't, and I've been wracking my brains for the answer. Someone else mentioned such a thing recently, and it seemed far, far too familiar.
University stuff's going well. Trying to implement gesture stuff in Java, in the hopes of eventually throwing it into other research when I get the hardware. Trond and I put together a fairly decent first-cut at a game for COSC426 - networky Settlers on multiple devices. The AR Worms guys really took the prize for most public-friendly demo though, I think.
Kill Bill - at least the first half of it - looked pretty good. Decent cinematography, action that made good minimalist use of wire-work (though was a little more squirty than it strictly needed to be), Production I.G. doing an animated sequence (though not in classic anime style - something that worked better with Tarantino's style, I think), and they even managed to not completely butcher Japanese culture and language. Nice. Thin on plot so far, but it's a Tarantino and it's only the first half. We'll see how it pulls together.
Work may be going some places. Thinking of applying for tutoring work next year. More stuff moved into the flat - should be able to live there soon. We still need to figure out the best way to get three computers hooked up to the cable modem for relatively cheaply, though.
