Happy happy

My father had a gastroscopy yesterday, after spending a few days being very unwell in Australia recently and missing my cousin's wedding :-( Thankfully, the results have come back clear and he doesn't have any horribly nasty afflictions after all - a great relief to all of us.

In other news, wolfwitch treats me far too kindly. Thank you very much for the birthday present, dear lady :-) Looking out at the weather, it really is perfect timing for warmer clothing...

Just before heading off to university today, my monitor flickered a couple of times and then the picture faded out, never to return. This leaves me with two options: figure out how to get my current aging monitor fixed, or get a new one. So: Does anyone know where a good place to get a monitor repaired in Christchurch would be? Alternately where's a good place to get a fairly decent monitor on a grad student budget, and would you have any recommendations in terms of manufacturer/model? Decent quality second-hand/hand-me-down ones also considered. Thanks.
