This might explain some of the thunder and hailstones and things that I heard/saw yesterday: http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/thepress/0,2106,2093162a6009,00.html

We don't get tornados, as a rule. Rules are meant to be broken sometimes, it seems.

Oh, by the way, I didn't get the job I was after.

"Sorry for not getting back sooner, the final decision was made late on
Friday, and has only been finalised this morning. I'm sorry, but you did not
make it through. You did very well, and it was between you and one other,
the final choice coming down to 'other skills'.

"Thank you for your time and effort, and I'm sure with your skills and
personality, you will soon be fully employed and happily working."

..the 'other skills' in question being a lightly broader range on the web design side of things - more Flash and the like. Ah well. At least it mollifies my disappointment somewhat to know that it came down to me and one other person, after two interviews and a send-us-a-sample-of-your-code. And hey, he has a job now so the next job ought to be just that little bit easier to get, right?

In further news, although my social calendar has been quite empty recently due to illness and lack of motivation, I hopefully have a coffee-some-time-soon with a nice young lady and a coffee-and-Greek-tragedy with a close friend lined up in my near future. These things are good.

That's pretty useful for a you-didn't-get-the-job letter.

I hopefully have a coffee-some-time-soon with a nice young lady and a coffee-and-Greek-tragedy with a close friend

Before you go in for that, ask yourself this question: "Have I done anything to offend the gods?" Because not everybody comes out of coffee-and-Greek-tragedy alive.

You did really well to get that far. As you say, he is in a job now, so the next one is yours. besides it could be like Miss Universe pageant, where if Miss Universe is unable to fulfil her duties, then the runner up steps in to her place.

The young lady front sounds good...anyone I know? (I just feel like gossip mongering) I have my own gossip over here in Melbourne, but it doesn't mean anything to anyone in Christchurch. All I will say is love triangles suck! hehehe

You could try killing the guy that did get the job and hiding the body, so that they'll be forced to turn to you when he doesn't turn up to work?

Nah, there'll be a witness (probably a cute kid with a lovable robot companion) and he'll have to hunt her down too, and then the police will find out and it'll all end in some chase scene in an abandoned warehouse, which will explode. It's not worth the hassle.
