"We like the music, we like the disco sound, hey!"

Loyal subjects flock to 'Rings' finale:

There weren't many costumed characters in the crowd -- fewer than two dozen -- none representing Gollum, Orcs, or other characters from the darker side of the movie. The best evil character award went to Jazz Stafford, who immediately lodged a protest.

"I'm not even wearing a costume," said Stafford, who was visiting town from Louisiana with his band, Colour Spire, and was given a ticket by a friend. "This is pretty insane."

On the other hand, I still think the idea of [livejournal.com profile] comikaze dressed up as Gollum is, well, a rather precioussss thing :-) I'm sorry I missed seeing his performance.

...You realise, of course, that I'm now imagining an extra scene from a special edition LotR DVD set that has Hobbits partying up in Gondor in a nightclub scene, with thumpy techno-goth music playing in the background. It sounds like an [livejournal.com profile] mc_smeagol gig if ever there was one:

"Uh, can you play A Elbereth Gilthoniel..?"

"Stupid elvesses! Stupid filthy smarmy elvesses! We hatess it! Stupid stupid song! Go away or we plays more Headhunter remixssses! Now **** off!"

Weird. Is it a licensing issue, or just availability? I know you can download some off of Emusic. I've got at least one that way.

That's amazing, since I've had friends around here who could sneeze them.
Did I ever tell you the story about me and Bill Leeb's kneecap?

Ok, so...

So, there I was. My friend Charlotte wanted to go see FLA in concert in Phoenix, so she'd decided to pay my way in, because she's super cool like that.
We get to the show and end up having to park somewhere we weren't supposed to.
We go in and meet up with a couple of friends near the stage.
We're standing peacefully up there, singing along, dancing a bit, having a good time when all of the sudden a huge mosh pit starts behind us.
The crowd keeps surging forward, and the guy behind me who's all of 5 foot, if that, keeps pogoing his shoulder up under my shoulder blade.
After about half an hour, the crowd surges forward really quickly and the guy behind me slams into me so hard that I go flying into the stage, my knees bend backward and my head is propelled to within two inches of Bill Leeb's knees.
The guitarist is so incensed by all of this (possibly because I screamed so loud that he heard me above his monitors) that he stops playing to ask if I'm ok. When we establish that I am, he turns to the guy behind me and says "If you hit her again, I'm coming down there."
The rest of the concert passes without incident (unless you count the fact that I got Bill Leeb's drumstick from when he was playing drums).
We get out and realize our car has been towed, so we have to wait for one of our friends to take us to the impound lot down the street to get it back. In the meantime, we got to hang out with the band, who were all asking if I was ok and talk about all sorts of entertaining geeky stuff.

That's basically it, except for some strange details about impound and Denny's.

LOL!
That's a fabulous thing.
I'm going to have that image in my head all day now.

Plenty of dark-side characters in Dunedin including one young Gollum and a very impressive Sauron.
