Apr. 4th, 2006 08:56 pmAmongst other things, today in the lab we:
Cut a ribbon, and opened a room to the (semi-)public.
Used a little hand-held joystick thing to make planes fly around in the aforementioned room (very cool with the 7.1 sound going)
Made pictures to put on posters
Blacked out half a room from outside light with plastic garden weed matting
Listened to a man talk about control systems being developed for use in, amongst other things, mobile military and [unnamed U.S. government department] surveillance software
So, it's almost like part Play School, part Boot Camp in the lab at the moment.
I must admit, helping Nathan put up all the weed-mat drapes and stick them to the ceiling with heavy duty tape did feel just a little like building a fort out of blankets and your parents' lounge suite - but for Science.
We have a consortium meeting in a week. I expect things to get crazier yet.
