It strikes me that there's been a lot of things recently that have been going right in my life, and I haven't got around to telling people about them as such, so here goes.

Firstly, thesis results finally came back, five months after submission! Well, back at least as far as my supervisor - I'm sure the University proper will get around to informing me eventually. My two examiners gave me a "high A" and an "A+" mark respectively, so I win at Masters Degrees. Due to illness and all I didn't get it done in time to qualify for distinction, but I'm still pretty damned happy with the results - it's a vindication of a couple of years of my (academic) life, at long last. I still need to give a departmental seminar and possibly write a number of papers on my research material, but the results are in.

Secondly, work's been going well too. I'm getting a lot of satisfaction out of my job at the moment - the stuff I'm working on, the people I'm working with and the way we're working. That's not to say that there hasn't been any stress, but it's been very manageable and I don't take it anywhere near as personally as I might have in the past. Of course, being paid well enough that I can actually put money away in savings helps significantly, too; it should help give me a bit of a float if I ever get a myself and PhD topic together enough to start.

Thirdly, Trond and I just cooked a very nice meal: thinly-sliced chorizo fried lightly in olive oil (infused with garlic and rosemary), with added tomato, white wine and Cajun spices, on a bed of short-grained rice. My mouth loves me.
