Trying hard not to worry.
Ice storm in Kentucky. Governor's declared a state of emergency. Over 100,000 people without power, including Jana who's ill with bronchitis. It's only a few degrees below freezing at the moment, and I hope it holds to that.
It's times like this that I most wish I wasn't several thousand miles away, even if all I'd have to contribute was an extra pair of hands and some body heat.

I hope she's okay.
Does she have family/friends there to care for her?

*hug* Thank you.

Is her home warm? Does she have a generator (though it's hard to go out and add gas when one has bronchitis)? I grew up with regular power outages in the Midwest. We'd just bundle up and close off most rooms of the house to conserve heat.

No generator that I remember, but there is a fireplace, at least. That probably means she's holed up in the den with the furkids and keeping warm as best she can. I feel a little better knowing that I helped collect and stack firewood when I was there, even if I can't be there now.
Mainly, I'm just fretting a little.

I'm sure she's holding out fine. As the previous poster said a state of emergency has a lot more to do with logistics most of the time - and access to funds as you've pointed out.

I will be sending positive thoughts out, just in case.

But seriously, I hope she is okay and it doesn't lengthen the sickness :(
