Commencing countdown.
Jul. 17th, 2008 11:06 amThe problem with being ready early is that you're torn between wondering if there's something you've forgotten, and wondering if there's something you can start and get done in the amount of time you still have to wait before you leave.
I don't have enough time for cooking the soup I was going to. I hope my flatmates use the non-dry ingredients. Most of my foodstuffs are frozen and will keep a month or two, though.
Getting my 800MB of "to read someday" PDFs onto the laptop was annoying, due to some files having weird permission errors. But hey, at least it killed quarter of an hour.
I could take an Icelandic saga with me on the plane, but I'm already most of the way through, so it might end up being dead weight. I'll probably buy a book at the airport in Auckland. Useful thing: something to write in, if one feels like writing. More reliable than requiring somewhere to plug in a laptop on a long haul flight.
Rather than "insert DVD here" big name games, I'm taking text adventures and Dwarf Fortress to kill time with. I'll probably trawl through blogs/RSS and my backlog of Flash games if I'm near public wireless.
Hmmm.
