Sigh.

I hate ending a night invisible. And I'm a mug - but that's no surprise, I'm sure. Tonight I'm an angry mug, though. Is it too much to ask for even a modicum of respect?

You're quite right, Binky. Too bloody right. Fucking teddybearness. I'm sick and tired of it.

Still, at least I managed to bid farewell to Michael and Keely before they moved up north. Yet another reason to visit Wellington now, I guess.

I noticed a bit o' tension this morning. Though I left irc to take a nap,it wasn't because of you sweets. Gotta love those irrc jerks for ruining a perfectly peachy mood.
Huggles :)

I'm not sure this means anything.

I wanted to say something but the words escaped me. For an hour I wondered what I could say that would have some meaning and not seem like empty words said with no conviction.

You have my respect, you have my admiration, you even have an hour of my time that I spent thinking about you and wanting to put something good into your life. I hope that that's enough.

[identity profile] happyevilslosh.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I would say that you weren't inivisible at the end of the night except that a) I wasn't there and b) I suspect my attention isn't that which you are after. I don't get the "Im a mug" comment tho?

This post is actually to say cool new LJ icon :)
I approve :P

As much as it may feel like it never gets you anywhere. I've always LIKED your teddy-bear-ish-ness. It makes you a wonderful friend.

Nice guys finish last. It's often true, but they also usually finish properly, without cheating or taking steroids. Better in the long run. Probably not much consolation right now :)

[identity profile] slothphil.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Finishing properly just isn't much consolation for finishing last when it comes with no other good points.

[identity profile] rtmiss.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)

Too true. I think I said that. On the other hand it is better than nothing. Knowing that you haven't compromised you're standards to finish in a better place is pretty good I think.

Anyway, what's last?

[identity profile] slothphil.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
So much easier to say that when you're not finishing last...

[identity profile] rtmiss.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Do you think you're finishing last? Morbid? Anyone we know? Take a look around the world pal, there are plenty-o people with much more to make us suck eggs over.

Just because you haven't found someone to share your life with - yet - does not a loser make you.

[identity profile] rtmiss.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)

If you don't run you won't finish at all.

People have a responsibility to treat each other with respect, those that don't are commenting much more on themselves than they are on YOU.

You are a good person. Don't let the bad (or semi-bad if you like) ones make you a less good person.

[identity profile] theweepingsong.livejournal.com 2004-04-11 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I know I'm giving "Advice" when advice is not the answer, Buuuut...
How about Re-inventing yourself?
Is such a thing possible?
I did, but I was young.
And I don't mean compromising your standards and makeing a lesser person of yourself, I mean just creating a new self for you to explore.
Consider it... if THIS you isn't a you you're happy being...
...what sort of you WOULD you be happier being?
I became the me I'm quite content with, but then again, some of those were more cosmetic changes. But sometimes thats enough.
Perhaps consider a little travel too...

Just to clarify, the origonal observation was that he was the second favorite teddy bear, never THE favorite...

[identity profile] rtmiss.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Ummm, in what way does this affect that I like his teddy-bear like qualities?

And not to put to fine a point on it but, though I don't see him as often as I'd like - he is in my 'favourites' category.

Morbid, I'm a fan. Yay Morbid. *HUG*.

People who treat you like crap are CRAP. Sucks to be them.

[identity profile] rtmiss.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)

Yay you. You can have *HUGS* whenever you like. And proper ones too, when I see you.

My point is still there, not everyone is out for themselves.

I find myself in the similar position of people thinking I'm a convenient place when they've got problems, but they can't be bothered the rest of the time. Stuff it, it makes me feel better to help people, and I have a circle of friends (which would include you sweetie) that I know I can rely upon. So those folk who only turn up at their convenience, and go away when I'm too much trouble? I don't need 'em, I just help them because it makes me feel better.

Pretty selfish huh?

*Hugs* *Hugs*
I was leaving just as you arrived because I was tired and was going garage sales this morning.

*wraps her arms around you*

*hugs*

As always you are welcome to back massages on the odd times I get around to attending parties :)

*much hug*

[identity profile] theuns.livejournal.com 2004-04-09 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I never really understood why you weren't distressingly overpopular. Guess this circle doesn't understand the value of somebody actually nice.

On the other hand, if somebody doesn't treat you with basic politeness, why waste time on them? You will be treated as you allow yourself to be.

[identity profile] jsr.livejournal.com 2004-04-11 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Cripes, I spend a weekend moving house and there's HAPPENINGS and GOSSIP and stuff, and I miss it.

Morbid, dude, you're a cool guy. Someone excellent's bound to come along. Their loss, otherwise.

In the MEANTIME, I suggest strongly that you get some close friends, or an ex-girlfriend or suchlike, and organise that every time they so much as _see_ any woman talking to you, they then take that woman aside for a "quiet chat", during which they warn her that you're no good, should be avoided at all costs, will break her heart, are evil, bad, may possess WMD, anthrax, are in league with dark forces, ground turns black in your footprints, etc.

A couple weeks of this, and seriously you'll be swamped with offers. Don't ask me WHY, I have no idea, but I swear it's true. You'll be beating 'em off with a stick.

I also highly reccommend that you purchase A Stick.

That has to be one of the funniest/best pieces of advice I've seen anywhere.

[identity profile] theweepingsong.livejournal.com 2004-04-11 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Mr Vincent and Keely are moving up here once more?
Intriguing.
*pord prod PROD* I can think of another reason to visit here, bye the bye *coughcoughahem*
You're a good sort, Dave, misa compadre.
Pay us a visit some time.

[identity profile] electricmstress.livejournal.com 2004-04-12 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
the suggestion to reinvent yourself is rather a good one. But why fix something that's not broken...? Strangely, I only know you from witty and (at times)quite ribald conversations ;-)..therefore, it's not so much a case of "re-invention", but rather of revealing the other sides of Morbid to others that may not be familiar with them.
Hope I didn't "bust your cover" *teddybear* huge grin.

[identity profile] jsr.livejournal.com 2004-04-13 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I wasn't suggesting that Morbid actually reinvent himself, or expose hidden evils (assuming there _are_ any, of course). I was merely suggesting that he organise for people to _think_ that he's evil, in order for The Ladies to be All Up Ons.

Once they start to look at you across a room at a party, and think "Oh man ... so evil ... so brooding ... someone must've really hurt him badly, sometime...." and then they'll keep looking and there'll be the biting of the bottom lip, and possibly the twirling of a strand of hair around the finger, and eventually Morbid will be need to deploy The Stick to make 'em step off.
