Reshuffle time.
Aug. 31st, 2005 12:29 amSo. It looks like my two flatmates will both be wanting to move out in anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. Financially and health-wise it could have come at a worse time for me, but... well. To be honest, it could have come at many better times, too. Still, they've got good reasons for wanting to be in other places, so I hope things work out well for them both.
Anyway. This leaves me with two options:
Find two new tenants. This would mean attracting a couple of people to live in a three bedroom place in Cashmere (close to the Orbiter/30-40 mins from university) for $75 a room plus power/phone/tv/net. It's a decent, safe, fairly quiet neighbourhood (heck, I've lived here most of my life), and for a three bedroom place the price isn't too bad, all things considered. Of course, it's not exactly party central for those who aren't well-blessed with transport.
Find a new place to live. This means either finding an existing flat looking for a tenant, finding a group of people and a place, or finding a small place of my own. I gather the rent market in Christchurch is rather nasty at the moment, so I very much doubt I'm going to get something equivalent to my current dwelling - especially if I want to be over near the university to help improve my social life.
So. Many things to sort out in the next little while. The exact whens and wheres of people moving have yet to be sorted, but I figure it's best to apprise the landlady of the situation sooner rather than later. I should probably check with the cable people to see if there's any penalty for cancelling service at this point (I vaguely remember we had free installation based on a period of service). I'll probably need to discuss storing some of my stuff with my parents, and maybe the possibility of moving home for a short period if I need to find a new place to live (though I'd rather not rely on that if humanly possible).
Any suggestions/thoughts/advice?
