Looks like everything is just plain falling into place for me at the moment. I got a phonecall this morning from the Dental Oral Health Centre: apparently someone who was getting the same procedure done as I was waiting for has cancelled, so now I get my teeth out at 3:30pm today. Which means that I have around an hour or so before I go nil-per-mouth.

Operation's scheduled to take about an hour or so. It's under IV sedation, so my parents will be picking me up afterwards, and coping with the wooziness and so forth. In all likelihood there will be some swelling and recovery healingness and so forth afterwards, but at least it'll be done, out, and sorted. Yay.

Right. Phonecall just came in confirming the op. Everything's go.

(Heh, the song title is ironic, no?)

r.e. your question on your other post: the closer to liquid, the better.

Seriously.

I tried pureed (I have no idea where the accent should go in that word, sorry - is it over the first 'e'?) tinned spaghetti and Weetbix with so much hot water and milk that it was almost Weetbix JuiceTM and it was still hard going.

It depends largely on how many you have out, how they come out, if you have to be stitched up etc but I found that even the muscle movements involved with swallowing hurt. :(

Have lots of liquid and keep something on hand in the way of serviettes/towels because you will probably be drooling blood for several hours afterwards.

*hugs*

Good luck *hugs*

Jelly is your friend. And icecream

And you cannot have to much ice to make the process easier overall. And arnica if you have it

Take Care and love to the family when youre able to pass it on

I do hope you mean for the arnica cream to be applied to the outside of the cheeks to help with swelling, and not for inside the mouth. I would hate to think you are trying to poison someone quite dear to me.

I just feel in forums like this, where the very ineducated in these things can come across comments like that, that it's best to be very specific about the treatment method.

I do understand that anyone treating themselves with something they 'heard about on LJ' without doing some research is Darwin in action, and probably good for the human species in the long run, but it still makes me twitch.

Sorry about that.

I had my wisdom teeth out under general, and I was able to cope with scrambled eggs that day. I don't think it was as major as yours sounds though.

Good luck with it all, and I hope the swelling is minimal.

Oh man I had all four wisdom teeth out just recently.

I found the worst bit was the nausea the general anaesthetic and the ingestion of blood caused. Worse than the pain. Having to consciously stave off vomit for an hour isn't what I'd call fun.

*big empathy*
